Effort Underway To Free Elderly CA Inmates

What is California doing with criminals once they get old and gray?

One California resident, Charles Funaro II wants to see them paroled.

That’s why he is leading the charge on a new initiative that would require state parole officials to consider parole for any inmate 80 years of age and older, who has served at least 10 years of their current prison sentence.

Inmates serving life imprisonment without parole or who are on death row, would not be eligible.

Anyone serving a sentence for first or second degree murder, must serve their minimum prison sentence before being eligible.

Inmates who are locked up on the state;s 3 strikes law would not be eligible either.

Nearly 366 thousand signatures must be gathered by the end of January 2018, to get the measure on the ballot to let voters decide.

You can get more information from the man pushing the initiative, by calling him at  (626) 578-0440.
